These here were what I had been during for a personal animation project of mine, during my first semester in College. Taken an a Painting 1 Class, I wanted to work on my improved skills by recreating the background art in the famous 80's cartoon classic, Jem a.k.a Jem and The Holograms.
What I wanted to do is keep the background as original as possible to the traditional work done 30 years ago from the show. I, didn't have any thing top professional like Photoshop to adjust the angles and blur the lighting, just my expertise in using Gimp. So, give the walls and platforms this great reflecting light, I would hope from small to big fuzzy brushes and then smudge the colors and used a lot of compositing. The studio lights were the most difficult, it required a lot of blending and measuring to get them in the right position (I never really worked on anything more than animals). But it everything came along pretty well.
